Every great moot begins long before the first shield is raised.
Folksmoot is not just a weekend event, it is a gathering of warriors, craftsmen, storytellers, and kin. Over four days, camp transforms into a living Viking encampment where skill is forged, bonds are tested, and legends are written.
Below is the rough flow of the weekend. Final time slots and additional activities will be announced as we draw closer to the raid.
Thursday: Arrival & Craft
The gates open and the moot begins.
Thursday is a day of arrival, preparation, and shared labor. Tents rise. Fires are lit. The air fills with the sound of hammering, cutting, and laughter.
Throughout the day, armor workshops will be running for those ready to craft their own gear. Participants will have the opportunity to build leather helmets and leather lamellar under the guidance of experienced hands. You will learn how to shape, lace, and fit your armor properly, not just to wear, but to understand.
This is a day to settle in, meet your fellow warriors, and lay the groundwork for what’s to come.
More activities and skill circles will be announced soon.
Friday: The Hird Prepares
Before a raid comes discipline.
Friday is dedicated to training under the leadership of the Hird. Warriors will drill in shield wall tactics, formation fighting, and coordinated movement. You’ll learn how to hold the line, how to move as one, and how to withstand the pressure of battle.
Controlled training fights will sharpen your reactions and prepare you for the coming clash.
When the drills are done, the mood shifts.
The evening brings games, contests of strength and skill, shared mead, and campfire storytelling. Bonds are forged here, not only in battle, but in fellowship.
Additional competitions and demonstrations will be revealed as the moot approaches.
Saturday: The Raid
At first light, we gather.
The warband musters and marches on the Abbey in a full-scale raid. Shields clash. Lines break. Voices rise. Victory will belong to those who stand firm.
This is the heart of Folksmoot, a large-scale immersive battle experience built on teamwork, honor, and intensity.
After the dust settles, the celebration begins.
Back in camp, skalds and warriors will compete in the Storytelling Competition, recounting the deeds of the day in tales worthy of remembrance.
Brewers will present their finest craft in the Mead Competition, where tradition and taste are judged in equal measure.
The evening will close in revelry, trading, music, feasting, and shared triumph.
More special features for Saturday will be announced soon.
Sunday: The Fate of the Gold
Not all battles are won with steel.
On Sunday, the Jarls divide the forces to determine the fate of the spoils. Through contest and council, the warriors will decide whether the gold returns home under law, or funds bold new ventures into the unknown.
This final trial shapes the story of the moot.
Before departure, oaths will be sworn. Words will be spoken. The fire will burn low.
Then camp breaks, until we gather again.
More to Come
This is only the beginning.
Detailed time slots, additional workshops, surprise contests, and expanded immersive elements will be announced as the event draws near.
Sharpen your axe. Pack your gear. The raid awaits.
