Sunday at Folksmoot: Oaths & Fate of the Spoils
Sunday marks the final chapter of Folksmoot: Viking Raid Weekend, where the outcome of the raid is decided and the fate of the spoils is put to the test.
The Final Contest: Morning – Midday
After the abbey is raided and the gold claimed, the Jarls divide the warband and call for a final reckoning.
One Jarl demands the spoils be returned under law to the King.
The other calls for a new path, to keep the gold and fund future voyages.
The Norsemen must choose.
Loyalty is tested. Steel decides.
The final battle determines which path prevails, law or ambition and who will carry the spoils forward.
Oaths & Closing of the Moot
By day’s end, oaths are sworn and the moot is brought to its close. Bonds forged in battle and craft are sealed, and the warband stands united under the outcome of the final contest.
This moment reflects the importance of law, honor, and leadership in Norse culture, where assemblies (things) and leaders played a key role in deciding disputes, spoils, and justice.
Breaking Camp: Evening
With the fate decided, participants begin breaking down camp and preparing for departure.
- Pack and load gear
- Break down camp setups
- Clear personal areas
All attendees are expected to leave the grounds as they found them.
Departure
As the moot comes to a close, participants depart with their gear, their stories, and the bonds forged over the weekend.
Make sure all belongings are accounted for before heading out, and carry the experience with you beyond the field.
If you want this to hit harder (less “event recap” and more cinematic ending), I can tighten it into a more immersive narrative tone.
