Arrival at Folksmoot
Thursday is the arrival day for Folksmoot Viking Raid Weekend.
Participants check in, unload gear, and begin setting up their camp areas ahead of the main event schedule.
Camp Setup: Morning
Use this time to get your setup in place.
- Set up your tent or camp
- Organize your equipment
- Locate key areas on site
This ensures everything is ready before scheduled activities begin.
Armor Workshop & Crafting: Midday into Evening
Our crafting area will be fully open with tools and materials available to help you repair gear, build lamellar armor, practice tablet weaving, and explore other traditional crafts alongside fellow attendees.
- Fitting armor and clothing
- Checking weapons and equipment
- Making minor adjustments or repairs
- Lamellar Armor Crafting
Work with traditional plate-lacing techniques inspired by Viking Age finds such as Birka, reflecting cultural exchange between Norse and Eastern traditions. - Tablet Weaving (Band Weaving)
Create functional and decorative bands using a method widely found in Scandinavian archaeological textiles.
Tools, guidance, and materials will be available, whether you’re fixing, learning, or creating from scratch.
Pregame Feast & Revelry: Night
Thursday is also the time to get familiar with the environment and connect with other participants before the weekend activities begin. Meet your Jarl, share food and mead, and start forming the bonds you’ll carry into the raid.
